Situated on the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake in Downtown Dubai, between the Dubai Mall, Souk Al Bahar, and the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Fountain consists of a 275-metre long central arc of jets, joined to a smaller arc and 5 circles of jets. When the performance starts these powerful jets shoot water sprays to heights of up to 150 metres, dancing in harmony with the music and illuminated by powerful lights, lasers and different colourful projectors.
Tourists and citizens can enjoy the daily performances, each lasts up to 5 minutes. Evening shows begin at 6 pm and are every half hour until 11:00 PM. In the daytime there are 2 performances which start on 01:00 PM and on 01:30 PM, on Friday the showtimes challenges, it is held on 01:30 PM and on 02:00 PM.
Songs and music accompanying the displays range from classical to Arabic and international music. The repertoire in 2019 includes such popular hits as ‘Nadili Sik Sak Show’ by Mezdeke, ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson, ‘Symphony No. 9 in E minor’ by Antonin Dvorak, ‘Lana Allah’ by Mohammed Abdu, ‘I’ll Never Love Again’ by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, ‘Skyfall’ by Adele, and ‘The Prayer’ by Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion. However, the songs list changes during the year. On Ramadan visitors can enjoy some National Eastern tunes, on Christmas – Christmas songs, and on 4 July the show featuring National American Anthem.
Performances are free and can be seen from various locations around Downtown Dubai. The most popular is the Waterfront Promenade outside the Dubai Mall, but it is always very busy as the show starts, the thousand of people runs out to enjoy the performance. The walkway around Souk Al Bahar is far less crowded and offers a more pleasant viewing experience. Spectators coming from the Dubai Mall should set off around 15 minutes before the beginning to avoid the crowd.
Paid viewing options for evening shows are also available. The Dubai Fountain Lake Ride offers visitors the chance to see the fountains up close by taking a traditional Arabic boat – called abra – trip on the Burj Khalifa Lake. The Dubai Fountain Lake Ride gives the front row seats to the best show in town.
There is all an option for a fantastic view of the fountains. Spectators have a great opportunity to dine at one of the restaurants with outdoor seating areas overlooking the lake and fountain. Visitors can enjoy captivating views at such Dubai Mall restaurants as TGI Fridays, Wafi Gourmet, Carluccio’s and Joe’s Café. However, guests should note that the Dubai Mall restaurants do not serve alcohol.
