The celebration and entertainment to honor the UAE’s 50th National Day in Abu Dhabi take place from December 1 to 3 and beyond, stated by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).
These more than 20 events share the success of the nation, celebrating the UAE’s culture, diversity and people, the last 50 years and look forward to the next five decades. The line-up features heritage-focused festivals, music and dance performances, sports activities and unforgettable fireworks displays.
The National Day is marked by the concert of Majed Al Mohandis and Aseel Hameem taking the stage on December 1 at Emirates Palace. The following performance is by Hamad Al Ameri, on December 2 at Qasr Al Hosn. And closing the weekend, Emirati singer Ahlam performs on December 3, at Louvre Abu Dhabi.
On December 2, as part of the Skydive Show and Formation Jump, 16 skydivers carrying the UAE flag create a ‘50’ formation above the city. Moreover, a fly-over featuring approximately 50 airplanes takes place in cooperation with Jazira Club. Additionally, there are Paramotor and Parasailing Shows with the UAE flag, and gift giveaways of skydiving, parasailing, and aviation vouchers for spectators watching on the big screen.
A National Day Flash Mob and the Sheikh Zayed Hologram interactive experience are hosted at Bawabat Al Sharq Mall on December 2, along with their fireworks show from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The hologram is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm until December 4.
In addition, the Cultural Foundation holds performances of Sailing the Silk Road by Caracalla Dance Theatre.
A popular National Day Fireworks display lights up the skies of Abu Dhabi city, Al Ain and Al Dhafra on December 2, at 9:00 pm. An additional one takes place at Bawabat Al Sharq Mall on December 2 at 8:00 pm. An extra firework display above Al Maryah Island is scheduled for December 2 and 3, at 9:00 pm.
The Majlis the Story of the 50th is screened by Bawabat Al Sharq Mall on December 2. This film uses archival footage to recount the UAE’s successful journey over the last 50 years. The screenings is available from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm until December 4.
Qasr Al Hosn hosts a special ‘50 Year’ film screening, where the first 50 guests on December 2 are going to be treated with a private experience of the attraction. More screenings of films by Emirati filmmakers are taking place at Cultural Foundation.
Cultural Foundation holds the interactive exhibition Al Mujamma, as well as art installations. More workshops and immersive art installations are going to be Manarat Al Saadiyat over the weekend.
Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa and Al Jahili Fort are also participating in National Day celebrations. They deliver exhibitions of historical artifacts from life in Abu Dhabi over the last 50 years on the show, as well as additional art, music and gastronomy activations embracing Emirati culture.
Marsana, Hudayriyat Island features the special Year of the 50th activations on December 1-3. More celebrations are happening at Sheikha Fatima Park and Qasr Al Muwaiji on December 1-3.
Yas Island holds lots of entertainment, hospitality, and dining attractions with 50 days of exclusive offers and competitions.
Celebrating the UAE’s gastronomic landscape over the last 50 years, The Abu Dhabi Culinary Season continues until December 9 with a special culinary activation: the Trademark Story campaign. 17 malls, over 100 restaurants welcoming guests for a culinary journey and offering trademark dishes for a special price of AED 50 take part in this campaign.
The Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season with exclusive deals, discounts, and shop-and-win promotions also starts on December 2 and continues until 31 January 2022.
Some more vibrant street lighting on lamps and rails complete the National Day and National Day Golden Jubilee experience. And of course, the UAE flag with a ‘50’, and the UAE emblem are to be presented as light decorations.
