tashas, the South African boutique lifestyle café based around a love of stand-out food in exquisite environments, continues to cater to the best of global dining trends with its array of stunning vegetarian dishes. Guests can savour a selection of handcrafted vegetarian plates throughout the day, available on both the Classic and the location specific inspired by menus, in all the tashas cafes across the UAE.
Start the day fuelled by the tashas acai bowl, that pairs the popular Amazonian superfood with mixed berries, bananas, hazelnut, honey, baked oats, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds or a simple, yet joyous seasonal fruit salad. Those with a sweet tooth can experience the colourful berry banana split, with fresh passion fruit and orange yoghurt, topped with banana, pistachios, almonds, chia, figs, pomegranate jewels, berries, honey, and mint.
Lunchtime dishes are catered to in the form of hearty vegetarian toasts, including the hummus or mushroom toastie, or creamed avo on toast. The chopped house salad elevates a mid-day classic to delightful new heights, packed with avocado, cabbage, gem lettuce, cherry tomato, red onion, coriander, sunflower seeds, and cashew nuts, delicately tossed in a lemon vinaigrette dressing.
A timeless choice for all is offered in the form of the handcrafted pastas for a sustaining break in a busy day. With a firm al dente bite, the mascarpone and roasted tomato pasta is a creamy dish made from a selection of pastas including spaghetti, penne, fettuccine, or gluten free penne.
Each of the ‘Inspired By’ menus are individually tailored to every tashas location, offering flavours that are reflections of the unique environment and interiors of each venue.
Diners at tashas Al Jalila can start the day with soft and fluffy protein pancakes with mandarin, maple and berries or discover the kale and cauliflower falafels as a main, the vegetarian spinach tostadas, are also great to share. Galleria Jumeirah has crisp cauliflower bites as well as a satisfying cranberry seed salad, and a delicious burrata with fresh tomato and basil salad.
tashas Al Bateen is inspired by Spain and tapas plates take centre stage, with creamy halloumi bites, marinated olives, patatas bravas and spinach and feta hummus. tashas Al Barsha branch exclusively features the intriguingly named Aphrodite’s breakfast, as well as quinoa granola, with marinated vanilla oats and berry compote – for later in the day, a fulfilling roasted butternut and barley salad or a comforting vegetable broth served with house-made simit bread rolls.
Guests can also find their favourites from a wide beverage list, featuring unusual and surprising combinations such the Rooibos and peach iced tea, bergamot and tonic or an array of virgin cocktails. A re-energizing highlight is the power-packed energy booster smoothie, made with medjool dates, banana, cacao syrup, cocoa powder, coffee and almond, for the perfect post-workout boost.
Founder and Managing Director Natasha Sideris explains; “We are always monitoring feedback from our customers and noting a continuing shift to healthier eating or a flexitarian approach to vegetarianism. It’s incredibly important to us that everyone finds something to love and be inspired by at tashas, no matter what their preferences, hence the ongoing focus on vegetarian options.”
Vegetarian dishes on the Classic and Inspired By menus embody the tashas philosophy of using the best ingredients and are all made freshly to order in-house by the talented culinary team.
