Being the world’s largest museum of its kind to date, with more than 80 exhibits, the Dubai Museum of Illusions opened its doors in September 2018 and has already become one of the major attractions both for tourists and Dubai residents. It offers a “unique visual and sensory experience” of great diversity, suitable for all generations and all kinds of visitors – children, parents, grandparents, couples, friends, and tourists’ groups. Unlike traditional museums, the exhibits here are interactive, and the etiquette is extremely photo-friendly: the visitors are encouraged to take as many photos as they wish and to share their experiences on social media.
The Museum offers three main kinds of exhibits: Master Illusions, Grand Illusions, and Optical Illusions. Some of the most extraordinary items are the Vortex tunnel, creating an illusion of ground shifting under one’s feet, the Ames room, allowing some interesting effects in taking photos, and a vast collection of holograms. Additional facilities include the Smart Playroom, where the visitors can play with Dilemma Games – a series of wooden puzzles; and the Smart Shop, offering those puzzles for sale as well as branded souvenirs.
The Dubai Museum of Illusions is open from 10 AM till 10 AM during weekdays and till midnight on weekends. A ticket for an adult costs 80 AED and 60 AED for a child under 16. Group visits (10+ people), company events, and birthday parties for children are also available, all of those require reservation at least 2 weeks in advance.
