During the ninth season of Abu Dhabi Classics, international artists are set to bring dynamic and diverse performances for the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth. The Abu Dhabi Music Programme annually brings classical and traditional music, showcasing world-class performers and orchestras from around the globe.
• January 28 – piano solo from David Fray
The concert week will open the Bach Concertos for 2, 3 and 4 Pianos kick-off with Geneva Chamber Orchestra. David Fray, the French piano soloist, will provide their Bach’s writing view in the rhythmic translation with string players.
• January 31 – Stars of Bolshoi Ballet at the Cultural Foundation
The world-renowned Russian classical ballet company will take the stage performing the most internationally acclaimed ballets including “The Nutcracker”, “Swan Lake”, “Giselle”, “Don Quixote” and many others.
• February 1 – Lise de la Salle at the Cultural Foundation
French Pianist will showcase uncommon musician sensibility and maturity. The program will include Ravel’s “Valses nobles et sentimentales”, combining this with Stravinsky’s “Tango”, Bartok’s “Romanian Folk Dances” and Debussy’s “Mazurka”.
• February 4 – Hamburg Symphony Orchestra
Having a global reputation, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s enchanting “Variations on a Rococo Theme” as well as “Variations on La Ci Darem la Mano” as a tribute to Beethoven, written for flute, clarinet, and bassoon. The event will take place at the Cultural Foundation.
• February 5 – Hamburg Symphony Orchestra
This evening, Hamburg Symphony Orchestra will mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Beethoven. Abu Dhabi Classics will host one of the most famous pieces ever written in classical music, the 9th Symphony. More than 100 musicians and 70 singers will take the stage to perform at this concert, taking place at the Emirates Palace.
• February 6 – Saltana with Sanaa Nabi
The young Egyptian singer is famous for the TV program “Arabs Got Talent”. Sanaa Nabi has an interest in the Arab “tarab” singing, and this evening, she will show her talent as part of Abu Dhabi Classics, accompanied by the group of elite Egyptian musicians “Cordes Croisées”. The event will take place at the Cultural Foundation.
• February 7 – Majida El Roumi
This year’s season will be closing by Lebanese exceptional soprano voice. Majida El Roumi is celebrated internationally as one of the Arab world’s greatest singers. She has a crystal-clear voice and extraordinary vocal range, which will be presented in romantic and patriotic poetry, this evening at the Du Arena.
