Every Dubai tourist can receive a free SIM card

Every Dubai tourist can receive a free SIM card - Coming Soon in UAE
20 June 2019

Dubai’s hospitality was demonstrated once again. The program has been launched and now every tourist visiting the city can receive a free prepaid SIM card right at the airport.

Each tourist over the age of 18 is able, having presented their passport with a valid visa (transit visa, visit visa, visa on arrival or other proof of legal arrival in Dubai), to receive du Tourist SIM card after leaving the plane on arrival right at the Immigration counter. Currently, it can be done on the exits from the terminals 1, 2 and 3 of Dubai Airport. The pilot phase of the project was launched on May 28, and today more than 10,000 SIM cards have already been distributed.

A sim card provides tourists with a basic set that will help settle in the city and not waste time and money on solving communication issues. Cardholders receive three flexi-minutes of talk time and 20 MB of mobile data for free. Within three days the card will need to be activated and topped up with one of the three available packages. The SIM card is valid for 30 days, or the time the tourist stays in Dubai, after leaving the card is deactivated.

Such an amazing gift to the guests of the city was made possible thanks to the “Connect with Happiness” project, a joint collaboration of Du Telecommunications, Smart Dubai, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA-Dubai).

This unique initiative is a part of the Dubai Happiness Program from Smart Dubai. Its goal is to provide guests with a happy and comfortable stay in Dubai, an increase in their satisfaction and pleasure from the trip. In the future, this project will develop and expand within the UAE. It is planned to provide such an excellent service to all tourists in the country, at each entry point.
