Series of performances display aesthetic and cultural diversity in contemporary music. At the first day, guests can meet Carlos Guedes and Laetitia Morais: Music for Visuals. Visuals for Music. A concert exploring different types of audiovisual relationships between living and pre-recorded music, and live and pre-recorded video.
At the second-day acclaimed oud player, Sherine Tohamy presents her own compositions in addition to a collection of traditional Arab and international musical pieces with some of the finest musicians from Egypt and the Arab world.
At the third day, Soprano Clare Lesser and pianist David Lesser are joined by guest cellist Laura Chapel for a trio recital featuring world and regional premieres of works by Previn, Rorem, Lesser, Tavener, and Wyttenbach.
And at the last day, Saxophonist-clarinetist Emil Sein mixes music, dance, film, and interactive technology in this innovative contemporary concert, developed in collaboration with acclaimed performer/choreographer/installation artist Kiori Kawai. In The Gathering, each element explores its own boundary that is bent, blurred, dissolved, and merged into other elements.
