The two-day Barzakh Festival creates a meeting place of musical streams of genre-shattering artists from diverse cultures, whose global-minded music reflects multiple influences and recombinant identities. This festival, dedicated to the artistic diversity and unity of world culture, will bring together 4 unique musical groups on one stage for two days.
On the first day of the Festival, March 6, the audience will enjoy a live performance from legendary African dance orchestra Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 as well as East-African retro-pop duo Alsarah and The Nubatones. Nigeria’s Afrobeat crown prince meets Sudanese retro-pop queen!
James Locksmith will play opening and in between DJ sets. James has been leading the alternative music scene across the MENA for nearly a decade, brilliantly blurring the lines between funk, disco, soul, house, electronic, techno and world grooves, creating his own unique, genre-hopping mix.
On day two, March 8, Egypt’s indie alternative supergroup Lekhfa (Maryam Saleh, Maurice Louca and Tamer AbuGhazaleh) meets funky Turkish psych-folk rockers Altin Gün.
