Ramadan 2022 is likely to end with a five-day holiday for the public and private sectors.

This year, the holy month of Ramadan begins on April 2. It is going to last for either 29 or 30 days, depending on the lunar cycle. The exact start date of Ramadan is determined by the moon-sighting committee.

The first long weekend is expected to run from May 1 to May 4, 2022. If Ramadan lasts 29 days, the weekend is going to be 5 days for those who have adopted the new UAE weekend. And in case of 30 days lasting, UAE residents can enjoy even 6 days of rest. This time could be spent to celebrate the end of the holy month – Eid Al Fitr.

The exact dates are usually confirmed closer to the holiday and the moon-sighting.

The first week of Ramadan coincides with the second week of the spring school holidays. After returning, students’ schedule is going to be reduced to no more than six hours a day during the remainder of the month.

Ramadan 2022 also takes place during the tourist season. The restaurants are expected to serve diners without curtains or dividers.
