RTA announced that the names of three metro stations in Dubai have been changed after signing an agreement with Mashreq Bank. Thus, Ex-Sharaf DG Metro Station has been renamed as Mashreq Metro Station while Palm Deira and Nakheel Harbour and Tower Metro Stations have been renamed as Gold Souq and Jabel Ali respectively.
It will take a few weeks to finalize the renaming of three stations, according to Hassan Al Mutawa, director of the rail operation at RTA’s Rail Agency. It is expected to see signages be changed, along with audio announcements. Also, the E-systems of the Dubai Metro will be updated.
Such developments are connected with beneficial partnerships, as “…the Metro stations naming rights initiative offers a fabulous investment opportunity to private firms and organizations in various trading, financial and service sectors”. “It enables investors to showcase their names and brands across the city”, said Abdul Mohsen Ibrahim Younes, CEO of Rail Agency.
This renaming means long-term investment, which will broaden channels of communication with new customers of different backgrounds and ages. This step is aimed at boosting RTA’s partnership with the private and semi-government sectors in the emirate.
Under the agreement, the Mashreq installs interactive digital LED signage as well as digital kiosks at the stations, which will enable customers to obtain information on Mashreq’s wide suite of products and services. Dubai Metro commuters will get a superior digital banking experience right at the station.
