This rocky mountain is a popular holiday destination for many residents and offers many entertainments for adventurers.
In summer, the temperature at the top averages 30 degrees Celcius, while in the lower landscape, including the vast desert areas, it can reach as high as 45 degrees. Jebel Jais offers a great opportunity for adventurers to spend time in the open air and to escape the heat.
Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is known for its reach eco-system, which varies from sandy dunes to mangrove forests and coastal strips. Both climate and location contributed to its variety, which is strong in the mountains as well – including Jebel Jais. Here, a variety of local animal species, such as mountain goats, foxes, wild cats, as well as many species of birds, nest and live by its caves and wadis. After the winter rains, multiple wadis form on its hills, blooming with purple lilies, wild irises, daisies other flowers, which attract bees and other insects. A lot of Sidr trees, famous for their medical quantities, can be found where wadis form.
Mount Jebel Jais also invites tourists for a variety of activities. It’s a great place for Ras Al Khaimah camping and organized picnics. Pedestrian routes are preserved on the mountain so that every tourist can fully explore the area. The total length of pedestrian routes on Jebel Jais is 16 km divided into two segments: upper and lower.
Puro Express is located at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level. It’s a beautiful place to eat and admire the unimaginable view.
Cycling fans will also find entertainment here. Good long winding roads will allow you to conquer the highest mountain in the UAE and enjoy the views.
For a quieter time you can visit Jebel Jais Viewing Deck Park. You have at your disposal seven observation sites with twelve binoculars overlooking the Arabian Gulf and the mountain valleys. For those who are up for some extreme activities, the World’s longest zipline, listed in the Guinness Book of Records, is also located here, which gives an opportunity to witness truly breathtaking views of the majestic Hajar Mountains.
After all the available activities, you can treat yourself to some refreshments at Puro Express and Muse Café in the food truck zone.
It is important to note that during the visit, the ecosystem of Jebel Jais, with all its richness of wildlife, should be considered while traveling along the path.
There’s nothing better than spending time by a fire and admiring the starry sky from the height of Jebel Jais. Spare yourself the fuss, take a tent, some food, blankets, and everything else you may need, and head for some mountain camping quality time.
The best way to get from Dubai to Jebel Jais is by car. Approximately two hours’ drive along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311) from Al Khail Road (D83).
