During Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. Sawn (fasting) in Ramadan is held by Muslims in many countries around the world.

Exceptions are made only for those to whom restrictions in food can be harmful to health – travelers, children, pregnant women, people with poor health, etc. The spiritual meaning of fasting is to develop tolerance and perseverance, the ability to endure hardships.

Fasting also applies to various negative emotions, which should be especially carefully refrained in this month. The time of Ramadan is great for working on the development of the best in your soul and character, the development of moral qualities, self-reflection, and self-improvement.

Very important is the conscious and deep reading of the Quran and special Duas, as well as the doing Dhikr. For a Muslim, these are priority activities that allow him to dive deep into the meaning of the sacred texts and to understand their meaning more deeply.

Dua

O Allah, on this day, take me closer towards Your pleasure, keep me away from Your anger and punishment, grant me the opportunity to recite Your verses (of the Qur’an), by Your mercy, O the most Merciful.
