At first glance, it’s a mystical detective story, a forest noir about mysterious murders in the Polish outback. Upon closer inspection, a rich artistic bouquet unfolds: caustic satire, piercing poetry, and subtle psychological observations. And most importantly, the remarkable heroine, the eccentric Mrs. Duszejko, who single-handedly stands up to the cruelty and injustice of our world. It’s as if she were written specifically for actress Liya Akhedzhakova—or even modeled after her.

Liya Medzhidovna Akhedzhakova boldly and wittily portrays the story of a retired teacher who undertakes to unravel a series of mysterious murders and, at the same time, save her friends, who are just as eccentric as she is. Actress and singer Musya Totibadze plays the main character’s alter ego. She performs songs based on the poems of the English mystic William Blake. The play “Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead” invites the audience on a mesmerizing journey.
