Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Championship

The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) will host the new WTA-500 tournament at Zayed Sports City from January 5, 2021 to January 13, 2021.

Four of the world’s top 10 players are on the entry list for the first WTA tournament of the 2021 season. They announced a schedule for the first seven weeks of the 2021 Tour calendar while keeping in mind the increased travel restrictions and mandatory quarantine guidelines set by the governments.

Major players attending the Abu Dhabi Women’s Tennis Championship:

• 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin;
• WTA World No.5 Elina Svitolina;
• Former World No.1 Karolina Pliskova;
• Winner of the last two WTA titles of the 2020 season, Aryna Sabalenka;
• Roland Garros champions Garbiñe Muguruza, Jelena Ostapenko and Svetlana Kuznetsova;
• 2020 Roland Garros semifinalist, Nadia Podorska;
• World No.12 Belinda Bencic;
• World No.22 Maria Sakkari;
• Rising stars Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Elise Mertens and Marketa Vondrousova.

The doubles court will see famous pairs Mertens and Sabalenka as well as the Czech partnership of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova. After both the events, the winners and their teams will travel to Australia for the Australian Open that will take place in February.
