Barriga attempts to keep up with the madness of life by creating characters born from the freedom that may seem linked to craziness as a reflection on the frenzies of her own life.
In the series of paintings, the duality between reality and the oneiric is present. Barriga is interested in the coexistence of a playful, even childish, aesthetic with a cruder narrative. The concurrence of the innocent and the guilty, the apparent and the real and the contradiction between a delicate caress preceded by a sharp slap of stark irony.
Unlike previous exhibitions that have had a narrative thread connecting all the works, +1Ov3 emerges from the precise moment that Barriga is living. The artworks appear as a reaffirmation of what and who the artist is, as well as a reaffirmation of her paintings. In her work, Barriga provides iconography open to the viewer’s subjectivity and his freedom to interpret.
