The Mall of the World: the largest and most unique mall of its kind

An ambitious project of Dubai is being prepared to be constructed on the front side of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Initially, when it was first announced in November 2012, it was planned to be located in Mohammed bin Rashid City.

The Mall of the World will be under a titanic glass dome that can be opened during winter times to adjust and control temperature conditions in this covered “city” rather than a usual mall.

It won’t be just a shopping center. The total area of 48 million square feet will consist of many tourist facilities: the new Dubai Cultural District will have theatres, which might compete even with the most famous places around the globe, such as the Broadway in New York; the Wellness Zone, a healthcare district, will be dedicated for medical tourists; Celebration Walk, a long promenade modelled on La Ramblas in Barcelona; the largest indoor theme park, depending if the dome closed or not; many hotels and apartments and a huge number of parking places, a long retail district with a huge number of shopping outlets, cafes, restaurants and a tram transportation system combined with an air-conditioned walkways, which connect the place together, will provide the best experience for the visitors.

This future pedestrian “city” potentially can become a truly majestic place for family tourism. There isn’t a concrete finish date but different announcements implied that the Mall of The World might be ready before the Dubai World Expo in 2020 and it is expected to be able to receive up to 180 million visitors each year.
