With the approaching of Expo 2020 in Dubai, the Hospitality Management Holding (HMH) has signed an agreement on the 3rd of May to construct the first ECOS’s brand hotel in a residential development Al Furjan in Dubai South, which will be the UAE’s first high-quality sustainable hotel with 320 keys to offer.
HMH says that ECOS hotel is seeking LEED, Leadership in Energy and Environment Design, certification and will try it’s best to be paperless and rational with water and electricity. One of the steps is to install the solar panels on the hotel.
The goal of this project is to be ready just in time for the Expo 2020 Dubai. The location of the hotel will be close to the new Expo site as well as Dubai World Central, Logistics City and other attended and populated places.
Brett Schafer, the CEO of Faisal Holding, which owns the HMH, have spoken to the media and said that the hotel “is very much along the lines of the future, where we [HMH] believe the hospitality industry is going”. He also said “it’s sustainable and eco-friendly, as well as experiential for a guest” and “it will incorporate all the latest in digital technology and of course sustainability as far as energy is concerned”.
Aboudi Asali, the CEO of HMH, says that the hotel will also try to target people who are looking for the mid-market accommodations while their stay in Dubai. He also hopes that this hotel will serve as a good example to expand the ECOS brand hotels across the region.
According to the company, the project is on its final development stages and should be ready to begin the construction in three months.
