In its 9th year, the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival will take place at Expo Centre in Sharjah from 19th to 29th of April, 2017.
The Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival is held under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who has constantly striven to encourage and promote literacy, reading and the preservation of culture in the emirate; and under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Muhammad Al Qasimi. The Ruler’s vision has enabled Sharjah to be named the Islamic Culture Capital in 2014, for its unparalleled contributions to the preservation of heritage and culture.
The Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF) is a fun – packed, entertainment-filled 11 days of discovery, creativity and excitement. Some of the world’s best children’s authors will descend upon the Sharjah Expo Centre, reading their popular works and meeting their fans; alongside more than 120 international and local publishers who will offer their books for sale.
The aim of SCRF is to promote a love of reading amongst young and old, showcase Arab literature to the world and give illustrators and artists alike the chance to feature their intricate works. SCRF also provides a great place for fellow authors and publishing houses/publishers to network and interact.
From face painting to sand art, art workshops and story-telling, to special competitions and puppet shows, SCRF has something for all ages.
