The Theatre will welcome movie fans for the screening of the documentary movie “Recorder: The Marion Stroke Project” with a post-screening discussion. The movie tells about a Communist radical, Marion Stokes, who became a fabulously wealthy thanks to the television shows archive she created.
The main character, Marion Stokes has recognized the fake nature of the media and the importance of protecting the truth, so start secretly recording American television 24/7 for 30 years from 1975 until her death in 2012. There were 70,000 videotapes covering revolutions, lies, wars, triumphs, catastrophes, bloopers, talk shows, and commercials, which almost tore Marion’s family apart, but now all those tapes are being digitized for future generations.
*There will be a post-screening discussion with independent arts writer and art critic, Kevin Jones.
