Alserkal Avenue is pleased to announce the start of the show, which was postponed in March due to COVID-19, retraces the life and career of Mohamed Melehi the painter, photographer, muralist, graphic designer, art teacher, and cultural activist. His art pieces are celebrated for its vividly colored murals, diverse with a brilliant color palette.
The first Melehi’s painting works were hung on the city’s dusty walls, which were a riot of color and pattern. Later, he organized the art festival, where his mural painting became a sensation. Melehi was a Professor of painting, sculpture and photography at the Casablanca School of Fine Arts. His work is often held in international museum collections.
The exhibition “New Waves: Mohamed Melehi and the Casablanca Art School Archives” will be curated by Morad Montazami, Zamân Books & Curating, the original exhibition was produced by The Mosaic Rooms, A.M. Qattan Foundation.
