Al Majaz Amphitheatre is celebrating music, love, and Baghdad at the Mesopotamian night which will resonate a twist of Western and Middle Eastern tunes.
Ilham Al Madfai is an Iraqi guitarist, singer and composer, also known as “The Baghdad Beatle”. He redefined old Arabic songs and restructured them to the strums of his flamingo guitar. Al-Madfai’s synthesis of Western guitar stylings with traditional Iraqi music has made him a popular performer in his native country and throughout the Middle East. Ilham Al Madfai founded his school of music, where he teaches his unique style of music. Having performed in 300 worldwide music festivals, his clue songs are ‘Khuttar,’ ‘Allah Alaik,’ ‘Baghdad,’ and more.
The Tarabband will present a cross-cultural musical experience resonating tarab, sharing the universal feeling when emotions and music become one. The band is of Swedish descent, being founded by Iraqi Egyptian Nadin Al Khalidi and Swedish Gabriel Hermansson in Malmö, the year 2008.
