This play is about mysterious witchcraft and fortune that get regular people in some dangerous situations and unpredictable circumstances. Exposing from different viewpoints, performance “The Incense Tray” is showing the unstable human world.
The Middle East deals with mundane problems and uncertainties of life with means the phenomena of witchcraft. In this way, people find the answers they need to the questions about relationships, lovers, careers, health, and marriage, despite the lies. The witchcraft practices have natural confidence, and as a result, people start to believe in strange rituals, since the natural reaction to powerful influence and seek to change their condition.
“The Incense Tray” is part of a mystical rite titled the “Visitor”, which supposes seeking blessings. The spectacle imposes the audience on critical thinking glancing at many characters, events, and stories, as well as the dark magic and fortune-telling. There is a real danger in supernatural things, due to consequences people cannot realize beforehand, they happen to get into trouble.
Above all said, the play is written by Hamid Fares, directed by Ala’a Al-Naeemi and starring: Hassan Yousef, Saeed Al-Hersh, Khamees Al-Yemahi, Mansour Al-Ghassani, Hamdan Al-Hendasi, and Kadi Al-Qaisi.
