A renowned Lebanese composer and singer Marcel Khalife and a talented Algerian singer and guitarist Souad Massi will fill this evening with the tunes of oud and acoustic guitar, featuring the journey from Lebanon towards Algeria.
From the most famous songs, Marcel Khalife will perform such singles as “Rita”, “Ommi”, “Oumi Tla’i Al Bal”, and “Ana Youssef Ya Abi” accompanied by the musical ensemble. Marcel Khalife works combine traditional Arabic music with Western elements like the piano. He uses modern Arab poetry (like Mahmoud Darwish) and muwashahat (music of Al-Andalus).
Souad Massi is of Algerian Berber origin. Her music displays Western-style tunes influenced by rock, country, and even Portuguese fado. During this concert, she will present her works “Yadra”, “Salam” and many others from the latest album.
That is to say, these two great musicians were incorporated to create a unique mixture of Western rhythms with oriental musical influences using classic acoustic guitar and oriental instrument oud.
