Lately, there’s been a steady buzz across Dubai about the new development called Dubai Islands. You hear about it on the news, see it mentioned in property updates, and notice people talking about it in cafes and on social media. Many already call it the city’s next big destination—a place that might change the way Dubai’s coastline looks and feels. We decided to look closer at what’s actually planned and what residents, visitors, and investors can expect from this ambitious project.

Dubai Islands is not just another headline-grabbing real estate launch—it’s a master-planned project led by Nakheel, the developer behind some of Dubai’s most iconic neighborhoods. This time, they’re aiming for something on a new scale. The project sits at the mouth of Dubai Creek, stretching along the city’s northern coastline just off Deira. It will consist of five interconnected man-made islands, together covering an impressive 17 square kilometers of new land. The vision? To create a district where people can live, stay, and relax with direct access to the water—bringing together homes, resorts, marinas, beaches, parks, and more.

Endless Beaches and Marinas for Everyone

One thing you can expect on Dubai Islands is a lot of waterfront. The project will add over 21 kilometers of public beaches—easily one of the longest stretches in the city. Imagine a new place to swim, jog, walk, or just unwind after a busy week, without having to travel far. But it’s not just about sand: Dubai Islands will also feature nine separate marinas, catering to everyone from local boaters to yacht owners. These marinas will help turn the district into a new hotspot for water sports, sailing, and even events by the sea. For families and groups of friends, that means more options for days out on the water.

Hotels and Resorts? Yes, and Lots of Them!

Dubai Islands is designed to welcome visitors just as much as future residents. The master plan calls for around 86 hotels and resorts in total, including both high-end international brands and family-friendly properties. Many of these hotels will be right on the beach or overlooking marinas, making them attractive for staycations as well as longer holidays. The goal is to create a lively hospitality hub—one where you could spend a weekend by the sea or book a holiday without leaving the city. With so many options, Dubai Islands could soon rival more established beach destinations in the region.

Not Just Concrete: Parks and Green Spaces Everywhere

Green space is a key focus for Dubai Islands. Nearly two million square meters of parks, promenades, and landscaped areas are planned across the islands. These will include jogging tracks, cycling paths, playgrounds, and quiet corners for relaxation. The parks and open spaces are not just “add-ons”—they’re central to the vision, making sure people can enjoy a more balanced lifestyle. For those who live and work in the city, the promise of large, open green areas so close to home is a real draw.

Looking for a Home? There Will Be a Community for You

Living on Dubai Islands won’t be limited to luxury holiday homes. The project will offer a full range of residential options—from high-rise waterfront apartments to low-density villas and townhouses. Each island is planned with a slightly different vibe:

  • Island A is set to become the urban core, complete with a marina, shops, restaurants, and even an art and cultural district.
  • Island B is focused on integrated resorts and family communities, with beachside villas and mid-rise apartments.
  • Island C is all about wellness, sports, and green living.
  • Island D is designed for country club living with golf courses and sports venues.
  • Island E will offer some of the most private, high-end villas, perfect for those looking for exclusivity and quiet.

Sports and Wellness: Not Just for the Weekend

If you’re into sports or want an active lifestyle, Dubai Islands has plenty in store. The master plan features two golf courses (one 18-hole and one 9-hole), an aquatic sports center, tennis courts, cycling routes, and beach facilities. There’s even space for horseback riding and skateboarding. Some islands will include country clubs and dedicated wellness resorts, making it easy to balance work and play. These amenities aren’t just for tourists—residents will have access too, creating a strong sense of community built around healthy, active living.

A New Kind of Waterfront Living for Dubai

Dubai Islands is not just another development—it’s an attempt to reimagine what city life by the sea can be like in Dubai. With its mix of beaches, marinas, hotels, parks, homes, and sports facilities, it’s aiming to be a district where people can really live, work, and unwind, all close to nature and the water. As construction continues and more details are released, keep an eye on Dubai Islands. Whether you’re looking for a new place to live, a weekend escape, or just want to see how Dubai is evolving, this is one project that could shape the city’s future for years to come.
