2 January 2020

If you’re visiting the UAE for the first time, you need to keep a few things in mind before venturing out

No one can deny the fact that Dubai continues to impress visitors every year with mind-boggling high tech buildings and new facilities to offer. First-time travelers are naïve and often get confused when traveling to the UAE. However, we won’t let it happen here and will make sure that you don’t make any common mistakes during your visit. Continue reading to know about a few things to keep in mind when visiting the UAE:

1. Appropriate Clothing is Essential

Keep in mind, Dubai is a Muslim country, and thus, you should give respect to the culture of that place. Refrain from sporting bikinis or padded bras on the sandy beaches. Most tourists often make a common mistake of disrespecting the culture of the state. Wearing clothes that reveal your curves in a public place is strictly prohibited. At least your shoulder and heads should be covered when you are moving out in a public area.

2. Best Time to Hang Out is After 05:00 PM

The UAE is very hot, and most visitors often fall prey to the scorching heat of the sun. The temperature of the state is usually around 45c and doesn’t seem to drop below that. This means, walking around during daytime can be very exhausting. However, during the summer months, Dubai is a lot cheaper to visit. Most tourists prefer to visit the state between October and April, as the temperature is moderate. Furthermore, you need to be mindful enough when visiting during Ramadan as eating and drinking in public is not allowed before sunset.

3. Car Hire is Not Easy

The best way to explore Dubai like a pro is to rent your car. Instead of taking public transport, which takes a lot of time, it is better to set off on a rented vehicle. If you’re above 21, you can easily rent a car in Dubai. However, if you’re below that age, you need to have an adult driver with you. Car hire is cheaper if you settle for a simple car. All you need to pay is less than US$30 per day. Furthermore, you will be surprised to know that most hotels and restaurants offer free car parking.

4. Don’t Just Stick to Dubai

Yes, Dubai is spectacular, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing else left to explore. Dubai is an amazing city but there are many other places worth visiting. Abu Dhabi has some great sites such as Al Ain, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, local zoo, etc. Make sure you have a valid visa, which allows you to explore different parts of the state. For instance, if you need a visa for Azerbaijan, you will need to consult the embassy in your country to check if they allow a visit to other places close to the selected city.

5. Local Food is Great

Dubai is considered a place where you can enjoy various delightful dishes, and the taste of its local food is great. Arabic cuisines are very delicious, therefore, you must try the local food from different places. Most tourists often begin to splurge on expensive restaurants but you can’t have a fuller experience of the trip unless you don’t try the local kebabs and falafel. They use all kinds of meat except pork due to its prohibition in Islam. If you want to try a typical Emirati food item, you must eat shawarma.
