His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the renaming of Al Sufouh Street after His Highness King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, on the occasion of the 86th Saudi National Day.
The ceremony was also attended by Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; UAE State Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to the UAE Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Bishr.
The newly named King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street is considered one of Dubai’s most important thoroughfares where many landmark hotels, tourist attractions and business facilities located on the stretch including the access to The Palm Jumeirah island, along with the sprawling hotel complex of Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Mina A’Salam, Jumeirah Al Qasr Hotel, Madinat Arena and Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
The road runs from Umm Suqeim Street to Garn Al Sabkha – it has three lanes in each direction and a capacity of 4,500 vehicles per hour in each direction. It’s also home to the Dubai Tram.
