The IWAS World Games 2019, the world’s largest wheelchair and amputee sports championship, will feature seven sports – archery, athletics, badminton, shooting, swimming, table tennis, and wheelchair fencing. The competition is expected to attract more than 500 athletes from 45 countries. The World Games take place every two years and gather both new and well-known talent for a festival of Para sport.
The 8th edition of the Games will host a wide range of sports in the facilities across Sharjah. Competitions will be held at such venues:
– Al Thiqah Club for the Handicapped (Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Wheelchair Fencing, Indoor Rowing),
– American University of Sharjah (Table Tennis, Swimming: Long Course),
– Al Dhaid Shooting Club (Shooting: 10m, 25m and 50m range).
