The Abu Dhabi Tour is a professional cycling race organised by Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) in collaboration with RCS Sport and under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman, Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
The race runs through four stages across the emirate and it boasts a fast-balanced route alternating between the desert and the sea, and from the mountains to the city. Under the spotlight are the main capital city’s landmarks (Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Corniche, the Yas Marina Circuit), main heritages as the famous oases of Liwa and Al Ain or the challenging roadway up Al Ain’s Jabel Hafeet Mountain.
The four colours of the UAE flag inspired the four different jerseys that the classification leaders will wear after every stage. The most prestigious jersey is the red of GC leader, won by the Colombian Esteban Chaves in 2015, the Estonian Tanel Kangert in 2016 and the Portuguese Rui Alberto Faria da Costa in 2017. The other jerseys are the, in order of importance, the green Points Classification jersey, the black jersey for the Intermediate Sprint competition, the white for the Best Young Rider Classification Leader (U25).
