The government announced on 4th of January that a new road between the UAE and Oman will be improved as a 15km extension of the new Fujairah expressway, and that it will be opened by 2018.

The new road will be extended by 15 kilometres, bypassing the city of Fujairah, and then branch out into two inter-connected highways, one linking with E99 or the East Coast Road and the second meeting E102 or Sharjah-Kalba Road.

They expect the new road will service 2,400 vehicles per direction per hour – and the four-lane highway will help drivers, both commercial and recreational, to bypass the traffic in Fujariah and Kalba.

According to Abdullah Mohammad Bel Haif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, the new road will serve as the main road link between the two countries, promoting better connectivity and more efficient movement of cargo and tourists.
