The Emirates Mars Mission “Hope Probe” will be the first probe to provide a complete picture of the Martian atmosphere. The Hope Probe’s journey starts from the rocket launch that will be carried out at Tanegashima Space Centre in Japan.
About one hour after takeoff, the probe should detach from the launch rocket. Although it’s not its primary mission, “Hope” will have a camera on its board to take pictures of Mars. This mission will help answer key questions about the global Martian atmosphere and the loss of hydrogen and oxygen gases into space over the span of one Martian year.
“Hope” is scheduled to reach Mars in February 2021 after traveling 495 million miles. Away from science, this mission will set a research goal of a small nation as it tries to transform from an oil-based economy to one with an advanced science and technology industry.
Inspired by the Mars Hope Probe, which is gearing up on July 17, the Emirates and global superstar Kevin Hart set a new challenge named “MarsShot” to make somebody’s dream come true. To enter the challenge and make the impossible dream possible, these steps are needed:
• Follow @marsshotuae on Instagram;
• Film an (up to) 1-minute video explaining your dream and states why your idea should win the Mars Shot;
• Post the video to your Instagram using the #marsshot (participants’ account should be public) by July 19, 2020.
• Three winners will be announced on July 29, 2020.
The challenge “MarsShot” is aimed to inspire people and show, that even very big dreams seemed to be unachievable, can be reached. As united we stand.
