Eid al-Fitr in 2017 is on Sunday, the 25th of June.

Eid Al Fitr means “festival of breaking the fast”. The holiday is a celebration which marks the end of Ramadan.

In UAE, Eid Al Fitr is an official public holiday – both government and private employees typically receive two paid off-work days.

As the date of Eid depends on the sighting of the moon, the dates for Eid Al Fitr varies every year. The announcing of the exact date of Eid may not happen until close to the start of Ramadan.

Note that in the Muslim calander, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on the sunset of Saturday, the 24th of June.

Muslims celebrate Eid by saying prayers, giving money to the poor, sending Eid greetings and feasting with their families.
It is a time to show kindness to others and love for Allah.
