Mohamed Melehi and the Casablanca Art School Archives will bring “New Waves” at Alsercal Avenue from March 14 to April 4.
Mohamed Melehi is a well-known and popular artist from the Nothern Africa who reached success in the 1960s due to his influence at the art school. Melehi completely changed techniques at the institution, suggested experimental methods and promoted students to take inspiration from local art as opposed to Western art history.
Additionally, this exhibition in Dubai is dedicated to present Melehi’s key role in the development of art pedagogy and experimental practices in Morocco. Making his contribution by most significant works in graphic design and mural painting has influenced heavily in shaping the aesthetics of artistic communication and political causes throughout the Maghreb and the Pan-Arab alliances.
