Dubai Metro New Route

RTA will celebrate the New Year by starting the operation ‘Route 2020’.

The new metro line is an extension from Jebel Ali Station to Expo 2020 station. It will serve the densely populated districts inhabited by 270,000 persons such as The Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Real Estates and the Dubai Investment Park as well as the site of Dubai Expo.

Initial stations to launch on ‘Route 2020’:

• Jebel Ali (interchange station with the red line);
• The Gardens;
• Discovery Gardens;
• Al Furjan.

Service timing from Jebel Ali Station to Al Furjan Station of ‘Route 2020’:

• Saturday to Wednesday – 05:00 AM to 12:00 AM;
• Thursday – 05:00 AM to 01:00 AM;
• Friday – 10:00 AM to 01:00 AM.

The journey between these two stations takes 6 minutes and per hour there will be 6 trains running. Nineteen buses on four routes will serve Route 2020 stations to ease the mobility of commuters from and to each station. Route 2020 opens with the first four stations after the successful completion of operational tests and trials. These were chosen, keeping in mind the density of population nearby the station, anticipated number of travelers, commercial activities in the area served by the stations and their links with other public transit.
