Turandot by Shanghai Opera House

Shanghai Opera House presents Middle East debut of the Puccini’s spectacular masterpiece Turandot on September 5-7 at the Dubai Opera.

This magical version of Turandot, under the direction of Roberto Andò, was held as the first new opera production of Shanghai Opera House’s 2018 Season, receiving wide acclaim. Produced by Shanghai Opera House, Puccini’s encyclopedia-style opera in three acts, with more than 200 artists, looks like a prism whilst reflecting the modernity in the music of the 20th century.

Turandot is Puccini’s final opera, featuring arguably the most famous tenor aria in the opera repertoire, the iconic “Nessun Dorma”, an instantly recognizable piece of music. The work is based on the Turandot story by Carlo Gozzi and was first performed at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 1926.
