Sharjah Art Museum has launched the virtual tour of the exhibition called “A Century in Flux – Chapter II”. It focused on local artists’ response and way of reflection on political events and the human condition in the twentieth century.
The exhibition includes 126 pieces of artwork demonstrating a wide range of styles, techniques, and thematic directions that have highlighted art practices in Arab countries between the 1880s and 1980s. Regional artists used different styles to display their reactions to the events in the country.
Also, this exhibition reflects the gender question in the art world. There are many fewer art pieces created by female artists than male ones, which displays the current challenges and obstacles faced by women, who still have to fight for global recognition in the world of art.
It can be viewed artworks from such Arabic artists as Mona Hatoum, Gazbia Sirry, Jewad Selim, and Shakir Hassan Al Said, alongside other lesser-known artists.
