Having success during the Berlin festival, “The Landing” (2019) directed by Akram Zaatari will be presented online in the MENA region. In this film, performers Sharif Sehnaoui, Abed Kobeissy and Ali Hout are stuck in the desert. Their moves, their communication, their discovery of location take the form of an acoustic exploration of space.
The contrast makes for an eerie landscape – half-human and half nature, interestingly for an artist most associated with visual work, both in the fields of photography and film. The acts resonate with artist Hassan Sharif. His early performances were staged in the UAE desert outside urban centers with a special sense of aesthetics ahead of times in the Arab world.
