A team of like-minded professionals dared to revive the legendary show by fusing heavy metal with a symphony orchestra and breathing new life into classic hits like Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman.
In April 1999, American conductor Michael Kamen, together with Metallica, recorded a unique concert called S&M – Symphony and Metallica. The world-famous rockers, backed by the San Francisco Symphony, performed 21 songs in front of a crowd of thousands. Due to complex arrangements, the show had to be split over two days.
For the track “Call of Cthulu”, the band and the famous conductor received a Grammy, and the double DVD became a cult. But the most intriguing thing about that concert was that it became literally unique! A few years later, Michael Kamen died, and all hope of a live performance of this kind was gone. What’s more, it turned out to be Jason Newsted’s last recording as Metallica’s bassist, and the most famous rock band in the world went into hiatus after that release.
The turning point in the creation of the show was the invitation of professional musicians instead of the usual tribute band. Heroes of the night are involved in many creative projects; the public always greets them with delight. It’s not an exaggeration: some fans prefer the Metallica Show to Metallica!
First-class symphony orchestras are always invited to the project, which successfully tour in the best halls of the world and can perform both rock and classical music. Comfortable seats, great lighting, but most importantly, the sound is incredibly clear and powerful.
And now, this November, residents and guests of Dubai will have a unique opportunity to enjoy this show live!
Of course, S&M songs will be performed, but the real highlight of the show are additional Metallica songs with special orchestral arrangements never heard before. Even Metallica didn’t play them like that! Moreover, despite the complexity of the show, the best parts of the two-day concert will be performed within one show during the two-hour performance.
Don’t miss your chance to see Metallica’s symphonic tribute at its best!
