Formed in 1981 in Los Angeles, California by drummer Lars Ulrich and vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield, Metallica became a world-known group. Their hits “Nothing Else Matters”, “The Day That Never Comes”, “Master of Puppets” composed of fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding “big four” bands of thrash metal.
Metallica ranks as one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, having sold over 110 million records worldwide and touring in 60 countries. Their live performances always start with the song “Ecstacy of Gold” written by Ennio Morricone. Recently Metallica celebrated its 30th anniversary, performing four shows at the Fillmore Theatre in the home city – San Francisco, exclusively for members of their fan club, the Metallica Club.
