Ely Buendia was a couple of units shy of a degree in filmmaking when he formed what was going to be the most popular rock band in the annals of Filipino music: the Eraserheads. Buendia—musician, lyricist, author, and filmmaker—has a way with stories. Not mere words, musical hues, or clever phraseology, but glorious, imaginative stories.
UDD formerly known as Up Dharma Down, is a Manila-based band that has taken apart and interestingly combined musical boundaries in their songs. Many of their listeners have tried to give their music a tag, but even the four of them attest to the fact that the only way to understand this nameless genre is to press play.
Ely Buendia, the multi-talented singer-songwriter will be performing all his greatest hits, including ‘Ang Huling El Bimbo’ and ‘Spoliarium’. Adding more top tunes is Filipino band UDD, formerly known as ‘Up Dharma Down’. Playing for the first time in Dubai, this award-winning foursome have scooped NU 107 Rock Awards’ ‘Raw Award’ and ‘Best New Artist’ in 2006. The band’s vocalist and keyboardist, Armi Millare, also took the ‘Best Female Award’, and in 2008, UDD was voted ‘Favorite Indie Artist’ at the Myx Music Awards.
It’s going to be an entertaining night of live alternative rock, pop, electronic and original Filipino music (OPM), so do not miss this event.
