The theme of the event will be – “A heritage honoring the letter and the pen”. The exhibition will bring together 50 talented calligraphers from around the world who will present a wide range of their works within the framework of this unique Islamic cultural art. Visitors will be able to learn a lot about this traditional art form, take part in a number of workshops and explore different calligraphy styles and techniques.
Organized every two years, the exhibition celebrates calligraphy as one of the most powerful art forms for highlighting the brilliance of the written word and putting forth powerful ideas that are related to Islamic heritage, as well as the region’s cultural and social identity. The International Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition will display renditions of the form in contemporary design and styles and aims to broaden its audiences worldwide.
The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
