In support of the #StayHome campaign, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority is releasing such theatre performances as comedy plays and dramas in Arabic. The framework of this initiative is named “Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre”. The plays can be watched on the DCAA YouTube channel (see the link below).
The first youth play “Dominoes” has opened the festival. It describes the relation between power and people. As the director said about the characters: “If they were domino stones within the space of a game, consisting of the king, his aides, and a group of individuals from a lower social class”. This play can be watchable here.
The next play is “On the Edge”, directed by Hussain Jawad and Author Abdulla Saleh. The two people are looking for the secret, as the third one seeks the truth. The play’s important mission is to reveal love in a hopeless time. “On the Edge” can be watchable here.
Through “Dubai Festival for Youth Theatre”, Dubai Culture aims to inspire and encourage talents of various nationalities – creators, artists, writers, photographers, short filmmakers and poets, – to continue contributing their innovations, engaging people to be closer to art & culture while staying at their homes.
This campaign was launched under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Authority, following her letter of hope and optimism to the Creative and Cultural Industry.
