Abu Dhabi Classics new season will host the Bayreuth Festival’s first international opera debut of The Valkyrie on January 30 and February 1 at Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi.
The Bayreuth Festival is known for its unique productions of the works of the 19th century German composer Richard Wagner. For the first time outside of Germany, the full musical drama of The Valkyrie will be presented to the audience of the UAE under the artistic direction of Katharina Wagner, the great-granddaughter of the composer Richard Wagner.
A unique feature of the production will be a cinematic display in the background, in addition to artistic pieces, it will show the main locations that inspired Wagner’s work.
The event is presented by The Department of Culture and Tourism and Flash Entertainment and will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates.
