Blending elements of pop, romance, and Eastern European tradition, he has built a distinguished career marked by emotional depth and lyrical storytelling. Meladze first gained wide recognition in the 1990s and has since become one of the most respected and beloved performers in the Russian-speaking music world.
Valery’s first solo performance was in 1992 with the song “Don’t Disturb My Soul, Violin” as part of the concert program Starry Evening, dedicated to the upcoming Winter Olympics in Albertville. In December 1993, at Alla Pugacheva’s invitation, he performed at her Christmas Meetings show with the song “Limbo.” In January 1994, Valery released his first music video for the song “Don’t Disturb My Soul, Violin,” which quickly entered many music charts.
On March 12, 1995, his first solo album, Sera, was released, bringing him instant fame. This marked the beginning of numerous tours booked years in advance.
Much of his success has been tied to his creative partnership with his brother, composer and producer Konstantin Meladze. Together, they’ve crafted a rich catalog of hits that have stood the test of time, such as Sera, Prityazeniya Bolshe Net, and Samba Belogo Motylka. With his velvety voice and elegant stage presence, Valery Meladze continues to captivate audiences, earning admiration for both his artistry and authenticity.
