Formed in 2011 by core members of the former South African cover and tribute band White Rabbit, they relocated to the UAE, where their adaptability and broad musical repertoire quickly garnered attention across the Middle East. Their ability to seamlessly transition between styles—be it R&B, rock, or acoustic sets—has made them a favorite among diverse audiences.
The band comprises four seasoned musicians, each boasting over 16 years of live performance experience. The lineup features Martin Jacobs on drums, Freddy Unaputty on bass guitar, and vocalists Emily Bourn and Johan du Plooy, who also plays guitar. This combination of talents allows them to convincingly cover a wide range of artists and genres, delivering world-class entertainment. Their extensive repertoire includes over 200 songs, covering styles such as reggae, rock, disco, blues, Latin, pop, metal, hip hop, and country.
Throughout their tenure in the UAE, Sweet Chilli Jam has held residencies at prestigious venues, including a notable stint at the 5-star Le Royal Meridien Hotel in Abu Dhabi in 2012. Their reputation for high-energy performances led to invitations to perform at various U.S. Air Force bases across the Middle East, including locations in Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Jordan, and Qatar. In 2017, they secured a residency at the world-famous Barasti Beach Bar in Dubai, where they continue to captivate audiences with their engaging shows.
