Born and raised in Misamis Occidental, Philippines, Sofronio’s journey from humble beginnings to international recognition has inspired audiences around the world. Music has always been a part of his life, and he often credits his father, Oniol Vasquez, as the person who introduced him to singing and supported him every step of the way.
Before fully embracing his musical career, Sofronio Vasquez worked as a dentist in the Philippines. Following the death of his father, he returned to music as a tribute to his memory. His first major breakthrough came in 2017 as a finalist on Tawag ng Tanghalan, a popular Philippine singing contest. He returned in 2019 for the all-star edition and earned third place, cementing his status as a rising star in his home country and growing a strong and devoted fan base.
In 2022, Sofronio Vasquez moved to the United States and took a chance by auditioning for The Voice. His powerful and emotional blind audition earned a rare four-chair turn, and he joined Team Michael Bublé. Week after week, Sofronio Vasquez The Voice journey captivated both judges and viewers alike. His heartfelt performances and vocal strength quickly made him a standout contestant, ultimately leading to his historic win and growing international acclaim.
Outside of music, Sofronio is a devoted family man. He is married to Maria Isabel Vasquez, a respected lawyer and human rights advocate, and together they have two children. Despite his fame, Sofronio Vasquez remains deeply connected to his roots and often shares how his family gives him purpose and strength. Now in his early 30s and standing around 170 cm tall, Sofronio continues to write his inspiring story.
