Born in 1987 in Achrafieh, Beirut, she studied singing and music theory from a young age before joining the prestigious Saint Joseph University in Beirut to study audiovisual directing. Her artistic journey took a major turn when she met renowned producer and composer Oussama Rahbani, who became a long-time collaborator and mentor. Together, they created a number of musical projects that showcased her distinctive voice and theatrical presence, establishing her as a rising star in the Arab world.
Her international breakthrough came in 2015 when she appeared on the French edition of The Voice, performing a stunning rendition of “La Bidayi Wala Nihayi.” Her performance impressed the judges and audience, making her the first Arab woman to reach that level of success on the show. Following this exposure, she signed with Mercury Records and expanded her career into the French and international music scenes. Tawaji has since released several albums in both Arabic and French, blending operatic elements with pop, jazz, and traditional Levantine music.
Beyond her studio work, Hiba Tawaji is also acclaimed for her theatrical performances. She played lead roles in major musicals like The Return of the Phoenix and Don Quixote, and was cast as Esmeralda in the 2022 revival of Notre-Dame de Paris, one of the most iconic French musicals. Tawaji continues to perform internationally, representing not only her talent but also her cultural heritage on a global stage. Her artistic versatility, multilingualism, and passion for storytelling through music make her one of the most compelling performers of her generation.
