Born on August 20, 1983, in Los Angeles and raised in Surrey, England, Garfield began his acting career on the British stage and television before transitioning to Hollywood. Garfield’s global breakthrough came when he was cast as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and its 2014 sequel. He later reprised the role to great fanfare in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), where his return was a surprise and delight for fans.
Beyond superhero roles, Garfield has shown tremendous range in powerful dramatic films. He earned critical acclaim for his performance in The Social Network (2010) as Eduardo Saverin, co-founder of Facebook, and was nominated for an Academy Award for his role in Hacksaw Ridge (2016), where he played real-life WWII medic Desmond Doss. In 2021, he won a Golden Globe and received another Oscar nomination for his performance as Jonathan Larson in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical film tick, tick… BOOM!, showcasing his musical talent and emotional depth.
