SRTA has implemented a traffic fine discount scheme to help people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier, Sharjah authorities said that there will be provided a 50 percent discount on traffic fines. Abdul Aziz Al Jarwan, Director of Sharjah Road and Transport Authority, SRTA, has announced that the 50 percent discount on traffic fines will be applicable by June 30.

This discount scheme was a part of the directive to improve the living conditions of the people of Sharjah, who faced money problems considering the current economic condition after the COVID-19 pandemic.

As Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of Transport Activities Department at SRTA claimed the fine reduction initiative includes all fines for violations made before March 31, 2020, and for three months starting April 1, 2020.

These violations include the unlicensed operation, which is AED 5,000 for the first instance and AED 10,000 for any reoccurrence. Also, Al Nuaimi reminded people who want to receive reductions of their fines, they should turn to the authority’s website, www.srta.gov.ae.
