Fighting Coronavirus – Public Transport in UAE will be Suspended for the Weekend - Coming Soon in UAE
26 March 2020

All public transport in Dubai will temporarily stop its work on the weekend – from 08:00 PM on March 26 to 06:00 AM on March 29. Such measures were taken as part of the fight against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The decision was made by the Ministry of Health and Prevention and the Ministry of Interior. Closing of the Dubai Metro and other types of public transport will take place as part of the National Disinfection Programme held in UAE. The three-day program involves a number of measures to disinfect and sterilize all public utilities, including public transport vehicles, spaces for people and all possible surfaces, including all metro stations and carriages. Such measures will be carried out throughout UAE.

Traffic and public movements are also suspended for the duration of the sterilization. The authorities urged people to stay at home for this period and leave only if it is absolutely necessary, for example, for food or medicine. It is recommended to work remotely for all employees, except for those who work in vital sectors such as health, security, police or energy. For those who will be on the streets for any reason, authorities can provide verification to confirm their work in vital sectors.

Three-day sanitation is one of many measures taken by the UAE authorities in connection with the fight against coronavirus. The authorities are asking for an understanding of possible inconveniences and urge everyone to adhere to the established rules.
