Within 11 days, 800 Dubai mosques underwent disinfection procedures as part of the fight against the spread of coronavirus COVID-19.

The mosque sterilization plan developed by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has been fully implemented. For 11 days, starting on April 1, all the mosques in Dubai were thoroughly sterilized, including all surfaces and spaces. Sterilization was carried out every day in each of the mosques.

To ensure complete sterilization, agreements were concluded with three companies specialized in this field. All devices and materials, as well as the most modern disinfectants, allowed cleaning activities to be carried out at the highest level. Using spraying devices, disinfectors were applied to floors, walls, stairs, carpets, shelves, books, and other items. Special sterilization devices were installed on the doors of mosques. Thus, visitors to mosques are protected for the given period from the possibility of infection through the surface in the maximum possible way.

The sterilization plan will continue, as long as the situation requires. Regular mosques disinfections activities are designed to maintain public health and keep the community safe and secure.
